The
now famous Memorial Day Regatta, first held in 1945 with
some 23 boats participating, is now limited to 150 boats with competitors
from clubs from all over the West Coast. The Harvest Regatta
in September draws up to 100 boats each year.
In recent years EYC has hosted the National Championships for the
Coronado 15, Daysailer, Santana 20 and Thistle classes, the Laser
North Americas, as well as many District regattas. EYC has also
hosted Mallory Cup eliminations, and several West Coast Championships.
EYC also has an active club racing program. Club races are sponsored
jointly with Triton Yacht Club, and are held on Thursday evenings
throughout the summer.
